Money Saving Ideas

Not only do you have extra expenses now that you have a child, but you may also be living off less wages or a whole less salary.

With the cost of living increasing everyday it is always good to be on the look out for ways to save money.

Most of us know the simple ones, like packing your own lunch for work, taking tea and coffee to work, and paying your rates bills earlier to receive a discount, but what other ways can you save a dollar or two.
Buy in Bulk

Start your own co-op.  Get together a few friends and buy fruit and veggies and other non perishable in bulk.

Save on General Items.

Keep your eye out for specials and stock up.  Make sure you use a frequent flyers card, and check your shop-a-dockets for specials.

Discount Vouchers

Visit the discount voucher website.

Shop on line

Most online companies have less overheads, hence better prices so search on line before you buy anything.

Share a Nanny

If you have a friend close by or a few work colleagues that all need childcare consider hiring and sharing a nanny.  You can alternate the houses used for care, or nominate one that is central for you all.

Use two types of nappies

Consider buying an expensive brand nappies for night time, when your baby needs longer protection, and using cheaper nappies during the day, when your baby is having regular nappy changes.

Use two types of wipes

This works for wipes too.  Use the cheaper brands for wet nappy changes, and the stronger and more expensive wipes for other more messy changes.

Share purchases with other mums

Buy a port-a-cot with a friend.  And buy toys, that you can swap every few weeks or months....
