Shopping Centres

We all need to shop, however getting around now will not be as easy as it once was.  One piece of advice I can give, is that whilst you are still pregnant spend some time at your most frequented shopping centres having a look at them from the prospective of a mother.  Look at parking, ramps, elevators, mums rooms, and toilets that are large enough for a pram.

There is nothing worse than trying to find a bathroom or access to another level of the centre when you have a crying baby and are in a hurry to find a mother’s room.  It is much easier knowing where to go before hand.
Shopping Tips

Make sure you have a pram or sling.

Take a nappy bag with spare ‘everything’ or throw a travel pack of wipes and a spare nappy in your handbag.

Try to park in a quieter part of the centre, so that you don’t have impatient cars whizzing by as you try to get the baby out.
Try to go early before the crowds start.

Time your shopping to fit in with your baby’s nap and feed times.

Try to avoid the lolly and ride on toys if you can.

Take a toy or a snack for the pram.

If your baby gets fussy, sometimes just stopping for a five minute drink and cuddle break in the quiet of the parents room can help.

Try to do all of your shopping in ‘loud’ shops whilst the baby is awake.  It is almost impossible to visit a clothes shop without music being blasted in the background.
Brisbane Shopping Centres

As I visit centres around the Great South East I will continue to update this page.  As shops are always moving, please let me know if the directions or shop landmarks have changed.
If you live outside of Brisbane and are happy to send us details of your local centre, please do.  Please just send us similar details for your centre as per listed below.
