Tips for the Garden
Many of us love our gardens, and enjoy getting out in the fresh air and pottering around snipping here and weeding there.
As beautiful as gardens may be they are not always cheap or easy to maintain.
So I have dug around and found a few old true, tried and tested tips for some old fashioned green thumbs.
Planting Seedlings
Plant seedlings in the halves of eggs shelves, then plant in the ground. The eggs shells will protect the seedling until it is strong enough to survive on it’s own.
Prolong Cut Flowers
Place an aspirin in the vase water and cut the stem at an angle.
Snail Control
Sprinkle sawdust around your favourite plants
Ant Control
Grow mugwort or rosemary near your favourite plants
Watering when you are away
Buy water saving crystals and sprinkle them around your lawn and plants.
Keep flies away when you are working
Spray the rim of your hat with aeroguard or fly spray
Keep insects away
Plant marigolds around vegetables, roses and other favourite plants.
